- Refine spawning and hatchery techniques and provide a regular supply of black-lip pearl oyster spat to satisfy industry needs.
- Improve spat survival and growth during the nursery phase.
- Collect data on spat growth and survival to update and incorporate into an already funded cost production model for hatchery propagation and growout of black-lip pearl oyster spat.
- Transfer technology by publishing a site-specific black-lip pearl hatchery manual and by providing extension training and support for black-lip pearl oyster culture. Conduct workshops in the RMI and other U.S.-affiliated Pacific islands such as Guam, American Samoa, and the FSM.
- Extension training and support for other commercially important aquaculture species.
