- Collect polychaetes from local near-shore habitats and screen for the incidence of shrimp viruses previously reported in Hawaii.
- Culture locally collected polychaetes selected based on large size and/or high reproductive output and palatability to shrimp.
- Culture locally collected polychaetes selected based on large size and/or high reproductive output and palatability to shrimp.
- Achieve settlement and metamorphosis of polychaete larvae and growth of juvenile.
- Select a single species for scale-up and optimization.
- Biochemical analysis of cultured worms to determine nutrient composition and fatty acid profiles.
- Disseminate the results of the research project.
