Overall Goals
To develop and optimize native macroalgal growth and biomass production with CO2 nanobubbles and phase change materials (PCM) technologies, then scale-up via pilot-scale studies.
Objectives
1. Develop CO2 nanobubble delivery system and determine mass transfer of CO2 nanobubbles in the aqueous phase (Yr-1)
2. Optimize a lab-scale macroalgal culturing system with CO2 nanobubbles (Yr-1)
3. Conduct pilot-scale algal cultivation study to grow macroalgal biomass outdoors with CO2 nanobubbles and PCM (Yr-1 and Yr-2)
4. Conduct a technoeconomic analysis of macroalgal biomass production with CO2 nanobubbles and PCM (Yr-2)
5. Transfer technology, including scientific knowledge and technical expertise, to users (Yr-2)
