Overall Goals
To further demonstrate and verify that aquariums can be important suppliers of eggs, from high-value (locally available) species, for aquaculture operations. This would significantly increase the number of species available to culture, rapidly enhancing Hawaii’s aquaculture industry.
Objectives
1. Identify and quantify egg availability from partners’ exhibits spawning aggregations of multiple species to determine which species are most suitable to work with.
2. Establish and document larval rearing, and fingerling production, protocols for selected species.
3. Conduct final workshop to review project accomplishments and discuss future opportunities.
